Indian Princess

Really proud of this pair!
Julie's business is called Yipiokya & she has the coolest logo, it was the inspiration for this pair.

Before I started painting I did a little sketching to get some ideas together.

The quote says "She never shook the star from their appointed courses but, she loved good men and rode good  horses"

Couldn't be happier with how this old pair of boots turned out.

October already?

I'm definitely ready for cooler weather & scarves but I don't know how it can already be October!
I bought myself a pair of fall boots, I kept seeing them all over Pinterest & after a bit of research I was able to track them down.
I haven't had a chance to wear them yet, it's still a little too warm for boots around here. It's about 85 during the day so I'm still wearing sandals which totally fine with me :)
After my new boots arrived I decided I needed a nice new fall bag. I've had plans to make something out of an old vintage saddle blanket I found at an estate sale & I finally got around to it. I haven't sewn anything in months, I kinda have a love/hate relationship with sewing. This project only took a bit of sewing & I got to work with leather a bit so it worked out nicely.
I made the straps the same way I make cuffs- I cut 2 even strips, rounded the edges, stained & sealed them & finally riveted them onto the bag.
I also had found a vintage western belt at the estate sale, I used the ends of it as a closure for my bag. I'll make a couple cuffs or something out of the rest of the belt -no leather goes to waste around here!
That evening my sis convinced me she needed a new bag too.
I'm thinking I'm going to make a batch of these & post them over on the Hopscotch Dandelions FB page for sale but first I've got to hunt down some more cool saddle blankets!

Happy Fall!

Fifteen Things

I keep seeing these 15 things about me posts on other people's blogs so I finally decided to write one.

1. I have terrible penmanship, I write a bit like a 7th grade boy.

2. I drive a '77 Jeep Cherokee, very impractical, no a/c & awful gas mileage but I like it.
3. I've recently acquired the nickname Pocahontas -it's a long story & I'm not going to tell it.

4. I once accidentally caught my hair on fire -hairspray & a candle don't make a very good combo.

5. My namesake. Very dramatic.

6. I secretly like cleaning my bathroom.

7. I have crazy hair, I used to wish it was straight but not anymore, I kinda like it.

8. My next big purchases:

9. I once lived on a 278 acre farm

10.  I would never leave my house without lipstick on and nail polish on my toes.

11. Ryan Bingham's my favorite

12.I don't feel like I'm 21, most days I feel way younger, other times I feel a lot older.

13.I think one day I'll live in Texas

14. My sister & I are 8 years apart but we're still really good friends.

15. I haven't had a sip of milk in probably 10 years, I just can't get myself to drink it.

Everything you were dying to know about me-

Let 'Er Buck

Here's one of my recent pairs of boots.
I love the classic look of these!
One of my favorite things about doing custom orders is that each customer brings their new ideas. Lacy wanted her boots to have a classy vintage western look, while incorporating her favorite colors- turquoise & pink, her husband riding & their brand.
